Columbus Regional Hospital will offer a community blood drive Oct. 5.
The drive will be open to the public from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Meeting Room 1, which is in the hospital’s basement.
Indiana Blood Center must collect 550 units every day to supply more than 60 Indiana hospitals, including Columbus Regional Hospital and Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Every day, about 40,000 units of blood are used throughout the country to help patients who have been diagnosed with illnesses such as cancer, leukemia and sickle cell disease.
