A 55-year-old Columbus man, behind bars since May 13, has been named as the sole suspect in the slayings of four individuals two days earlier in a Waynesville home.

Samuel E. Sallee was identified Monday night by Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett as “the prime and only suspect at this time” in the May 11 shooting deaths of Katheryn M. Burton, 53; Thomas W. Smith, 39; Aaron T. Cross, 41; and Shawn L. Burton, 40, in a home at 2634 E. Main Cross St.

That’s where Katheryn Burton and Smith lived, and where all four of the bodies were discovered.
