Columbus man sentenced in storage unit break-ins

A Bartholomew County man recently was sentenced to four years of home detention after pleading guilty to burglary in connection with a series of 2013 break-ins that involved two units of a self-storage business in Seymour.

Matthew A. Perkins, 34, of Columbus, received the sentence from Jackson Circuit Judge Richard W. Poynter, who initially gave Perkins a six-year prison term.

Poynter suspended two of the six years and ordered him to serve the remaining four on a home detention program, monitored by Jackson County Community Corrections.
