Column: Be a role model of economic independence for area girls



Last year, The Pew Center released data showing that moms are now the sole or primary breadwinners in four in 10 households with children younger than age 18.

Whether this reflects your family, it is critical to think about what this means for your daughter or other girls in your life. As April is Financial Literacy Month, it is an opportunity to educate them on the importance of economic independence and model how this can be achieved.

You will be promoting both their bright futures and our collective success.
