Column: Be smart about flu this season: Get vaccinated

The challenge is the same every year: local healthcare providers, including the Jackson County Health Department, all trying to educate and convince residents that the “best medicine is preventative medicine.”

Often it takes a death or a pandemic to convince many to reconsider getting vaccinated against the flu.

Why do we choose to gamble with our health? Why do so many think that the flu is not dangerous?
