Column: Cellphone, texting can wait



How many times in the past week have you talked on your cell phone while driving? Texted? These are all great ways to get you or someone else hurt. Distracted driving is one of the main reasons for accidents in the nation.

The Department of Transportation and the Federal Communications Commission have joined up with AT&T to help reduce the number deaths because of texting behind the wheel with its No Text on Board campaign. This campaign encourages a lifelong pledge by adults and teens to not text while driving.

The No Text on Board pledge day encouraged teens and adults to join with others to make a lifelong commitment to never text and drive.

AT&T is touring a virtual reality simulator to demonstrate the dangers of texting while driving in more than 200 locations across the country and has launched a new online simulator that allows users to experience the dangers of texting while driving.
