Column: Christmas Miracle drive needs community boost

Jackson County differs from many communities in terms of generosity and the willingness to look out for those who are less fortunate. Many community and church organizations in the county that benefit the underprivileged come to mind.

One of these organizations, Jackson County Sertoma Club, with its annual Christmas Miracle distributes toys and clothes to needy children who otherwise might not have much of a Christmas due to financial hardship.

Last Christmas Eve, 408 families with 838 children benefited from this demonstration of Jackson County’s generosity, and this activity has been in existence for more than 20 years. Additionally, this is a countywide activity that serves children (up to and including 12-year-olds) in every part of the county.
