Column: Humanity’s primary need is for forgiveness from God

Pilate was in control, or so it would seem. It appeared that he had all of the power. Jesus was brought before him on trumped-up allegations. The angry mob was calling for Jesus to be crucified.

Jesus was silent.

“Do you refuse to speak to me,” Pilate asked. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?” (John 19:10)
