Column: In perilous times, look to God, Bible for answers to what's right

Another national tragedy has touched the heart and soul of our nation.

Every one of us will remember where we were when we heard of the horrific act of violence that took the lives of 20 innocent elementary students in Newtown, Conn.

No parent should ever know the terror that so many unsuspecting families experienced that Friday morning. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of these grieving families. Long after this story has left the headlines, fractured families will continue to mourn the immeasurable losses caused by this horrible tragedy.

The Apostle Paul issued a clear warning in 2 Timothy 3:1, 13, when he said, “There will be terrible times in the last days … while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

It seems that every week we hear more stories that  to the unraveling of a society that has turned its back on God. Instead of turning to the politicians for help or looking to implement laws that will continue to be broken by lawless men, it is time we look to the Bible and the God of heaven for wisdom and direction in these perilous times.
