Column: Individual’s actions increase county state recycling levels

I’ve waited for it to make the headlines. I knew it would follow gun control, Common Core standards and job creation. But the time has come for another huge announcement from the Statehouse.

Huge in my world, at least.

A few weeks ago, Gov. Mike Pence signed into legislation an environmental goal of 50 percent diversion. He is asking every Hoosier to be responsible to see that at least 50 percent of everything we discard is recycled. To make this goal even more amazing is this is an unfinanced goal, meaning no state funds have been distributed to meet this lofty effort.
