Column: Keep pressure on divided government to ensure safety

As this is being written, our government is in the process of coping with the almost daily killings of innocents in our public places.

Although murderous crime is a daily occurrence on our streets addressed by law enforcement, this senseless horror of mass killings is something our government can do something about now.

It has to be obvious to most of us that this type of mass killing cannot go on. Does Congress also see the definite need to take action? It matters not what other countries do or don’t do, this mayhem is a unique American problem, whose roots lay in our frontier mentality, supported by the Bill of Rights.
