Column: Roll up your sleeve and help local patients by giving blood

A special partnership allows Schneck Medical Center to provide better health care for the local community — a partnership that I ask residents of Jackson County to join.

Since 1999, Schneck has relied on Indiana Blood Center and its volunteer donors to ensure our lab is adequately supplied with the necessary blood components to help treat our patients who are fighting cancer, in surgery, and being treated for trauma.

In the past year alone, Indiana Blood Center has delivered 2,347 blood components to our lab, which have enabled our physicians to save and extend thousands of lives. In fact, the remarkable care provided at the new Schneck Cancer Center would not be possible without the help of Indiana Blood Center donors who raise their sleeves to donate blood for our patients.
