Column: The bitter truth and stark reality of our society

I am disappointed that The Tribune is publishing Steve Greene’s Sunday sermons on the Opinion Page (The Tribune Saturday-Sunday edition, Nov. 2-3, 2013, and previous). Sermons are not opinions; they are a discourse for the purposes, of religious instruction and, in my opinion, if they are to be published then they belong on the Community page.

Mr. Greene’s recent sermon on “establishing a foundation of truth” is built on a logical fallacy called “the distinction without a difference.” Attempting to separate sexual orientation from sexual behavior is much like attempting to separate being right-handed from writing with your right hand.

In my opinion, this sermon only serves to perpetuate an evil in our society that manifests itself in the bullying, harassment, and physical assault of homosexuals and of teenage homosexuals in particular.
