Commissioners hear update on parks project

The county park board is searching for financial support to help fund improvements to Jackson County Park on the edge of Brownstown.

Work also is progressing toward the construction of soccer fields on county-owned land near the highway garage. That project will be funded with assistance from the Brownstown Township trustee.

Proposed improvements at the park include expanding its half-mile trail to one mile and making the trail and parking lot handicapped-accessible.

The park board needs $37,500 in matching funds for the work, member Larry Raymer told county commissioners on Tuesday.
