Community invited to learn about new football league

The new Seymour Area Youth Football League is conducting a community information session, youth skills challenge and cookout at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Shields Park shelter house, 794 N. Park St., Seymour.

Parents of third- through sixth-graders interested in playing football are invited to attend. You should bring the registration fee of $130 per athlete. A minimum down payment of $65 may be paid, with the remaining balance due before the first practice on Aug. 4. Registering at this event will guarantee the correct-sized new equipment for your child.

The league’s board of directors will speak about the league and answer questions. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided, and there will be a youth skills challenge with awards going to the winners.
