Concert series concerns officials

City officials want to make sure everything is in line before jumping on board to host a summer concert series in downtown Seymour.

Warren Baumgart Jr., executive director of Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, presented the idea for Seymour City Jam to the Board of Public Works on Thursday.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring people downtown,” Baumgart said.

The event would serve as a fundraiser for the art center, which offers programs, classes and other opportunities for residents to explore the arts.

The shows would be free to the public and are being modeled after the successful Neighborfest concerts in Columbus.

“We would like this to develop into an event like that,” Baumgart said.
