Cougars earn spot in tourney championship

FRENCH LICK

Coach Aaron Rudzinski said it had been a while since his Trinity Lutheran boys basketball team had rallied to win a game when trailing by 12 or more points.

The Cougars trailed West Washington 36-24 entering the fourth quarter of Friday afternoon’s pool game in the Springs Valley Holiday Tournament. The Cougars, sparked by Jacob Harless, rallied to outscore the Senators 20-6 in the final quarter to pull out a 44-42 victory.

Later on Friday night, the Cougars edged Milan 59-56, leaving them 2-0 in pool play and placing them in today’s championship game against Loogootee. Rudzinski said, however, the schedule could change depending on the weather.
