The Trinity Lutheran girls basketball team got back on the winning side Saturday with a 55-38 win against Oldenburg Academy at the Bollinger Athletic Complex.
Cougars coach Mike Lang was happy with the win, but he thinks his team still is not playing up to its potential.
“I know a lot of coaches out there are begging for their teams to play for 32 minutes, and we are the same,” he said. “We have to keep moving forward with it, and we are getting a little closer to it.”
The Cougars scored the first five points of the game when Haley Couch made a basket, and Brianna Sons drained a 3-pointer. After the Twisters pulled within two, Allison Posey hit a 3-pointer. Sons added her second 3 of the game to give the Cougars an 11-5 lead.
“That’s kind of the story of this team, as it goes back to Lanesville where we had a lead and let them back in. But tonight, we did a better job of controlling their runs a little bit more,” Lang said. “We worked on blocking out to keep them off the glass, and it minimized some of what they can do.”
