Cougars make 3rd-quarter run, eclipse Rising Sun

Trinity Lutheran used a string of 24 consecutive points during the final three minutes of the third quarter and first six minutes of the fourth quarter to break open a close game Friday and roll to a 55-26 Senior Night win against Rising Sun.

The Shiners closed Trinity’s lead to 29-22 on a basket by Ryan Dugan with 2:55 left in the third quarter. But they were unable to score again until Cody Weaver hit a short jump shot with 1:10 remaining in the game.

Rising Sun shot 1 for 11 in the fourth quarter and just 10 for 44 for the night. None of the Shiners scored more than six points.

Cougars coach Aaron Rudzinski said the credit goes to his team’s man-to-man defense.
