The Trinity Lutheran girls built a 30-19 lead against Rising Sun by halftime of Thursday’s home game, and the Cougars went on to collect a 50-38 win.
The key to victory was the Cougars’ defense as they forced the Shiners into 33 turnovers.
“We knew that their bigs were very solid down low, and I knew we could put the pressure on the guards,” Cougars coach Mike Lang said. “Through all the film that we saw, they really had a hard time handling the ball. We had to create tempo, and that is something we didn’t do at Henryville (Tuesday). We got out, we got after them and this is the kind of basketball team that we have. This is the way we need to play — get after teams man-to-man and put a lot of pressure on their guards and have our defense create offense.”
