Trinity Lutheran's soccer team defeated Salem for the second time of the season on Saturday, and this time, it was in the Class A Sectional 59 championship. The Cougars won 6-1.
Stone Riddle had two goals for the Cougars (11-7), while Rob Setty, Bobby Tabeling, Parker Criswell and Seth Patterson each scored once. Also, Setty had two assists, and Josh Southerland had one.
Trinity advances to play in the Switzerland County Regional on Thursday, where the Cougars will face Southwestern (Hanover), which beat Rising Sun 1-0 for the Switzerland County Sectional title. The other matchup that night will be Providence taking on the winner of the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional.
Seymour's boys team also played in a sectional championship on Saturday, but the Owls lost to the state's top-ranked team in Class 2A, Columbus North, 6-0. That was in Sectional 27 at Columbus.
The Owls ended the season with an 8-9-1 record.
