Council approves part-time officers

Town Council members approved a request from Brownstown Police Chief Tom Hanner to spend overtime money to hire two part-time officers, most likely retired cops.

The move would allow Hanner to better monitor and cut back on overtime for the department’s six full-time officers.

He told the council during its meeting Monday at Town Hall that, when he became town marshal, he started out with the idea of eliminating overtime.
