Council opposes eliminating tax

City officials want state lawmakers to develop a plan for replacing lost tax dollars before they vote to eliminate or change the state’s business personal property tax.

The Seymour City Council approved a resolution Monday opposing any legislation that would reduce or do away with the tax altogether or would give local government leaders the option to do so.

Mayor Craig Luedeman plans to deliver the resolution to Gov. Mike Pence.
