Local unemployment levels hit 6-year low

Jackson County’s unemployment rate fell to 4.5 percent in April, the lowest level in six years.

The county also added 209 workers to bring its workforce to 20,434 in April, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s monthly report.

Jim Plump of Jackson County Industrial Development Corp. said the increase in people working mirrors what he’s hearing from local employers.
