County remains under travel watch

Jackson County remains under a travel watch advisory Wednesday because of the weather and road conditions.

During a watch, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, Duane Davis of the county's emergency management office said.

The overnight low bottomed out at 4 below zero at 7:44 a.m., according to the weather station at Brownstown Central High School. The record low for this date is 11 below zero, set on Jan. 22, 1984. At the opposite extreme, the record high for the date is 69, set in 1986.
