Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports icy roads led to three wrecks in the past 40 minutes Sunday morning.
Area roads are becoming slick and hazardous since rain start falling and freezing around 6:40 a.m., dispatcher Stephanie Prewitt said.
"It's getting worse by the minute," she said. Her office dispatched officers to three wrecks between 7 a.m. and 7:40 a.m.
Jackson County was expected to receive up a quarter inch of ice and three to six inches of snow Sunday.
Accumulating ice could pose a threat to power lines.
The online outage map for Jackson County REMC shows 34 power outages in the county, including 32 in Washington Township and two in Redding Township at 9:30 a.m.
