County studied for new high school

A Catholic high school closer to Seymour would be a well-received addition to parochial school offerings in Jackson and surrounding counties, a local Catholic official said.

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis is exploring whether a new Catholic high school should be built south of Indianapolis to give a greater number of families access to a Catholic education at the high school level.

In a community such as Seymour that is more populated with Lutherans, a new school may not have enough local Catholic membership and support to sustain it, said Father Dan Staublin of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour.
