County teams learn postseason matchups



Brownstown Central will play its first football sectional game at home, while Seymour will travel to Evansville.

The Jackson County schools were among 315 from around the state that were placed into brackets Sunday night for the 40th annual Indiana High School Athletic Association state tournament. Teams are entering the last week of the regular season.

Class 3A No. 12 Brownstown will play host to Heritage Hills at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19. Other Class 3A Sectional 23 first-round matchups include Salem at North Harrison, Silver Creek at No. 11 Corydon Central and Mitchell at No. 2 Charlestown.

The Braves (7-1) close the regular season Friday at Corydon. During the regular season, they didn’t play Heritage Hills, but they beat Salem, North Harrison, Silver Creek and Mitchell and lost to Charlestown.
