County to cover misused money

A recent state audit that Jackson County misspent $13,877.95 in 911 fees perplexed some local officials.

The expenses — built into the department’s annual budget — included purchases of office supplies, uniforms, office furniture and postage.

Officials are troubled because some of those supplies were purchased so the county could file required state 911 reports, county Auditor Kathy Hohenstreiter said.
