County volleyball teams look ahead to sectional matchups

Seymour hopes to use home court to its advantage in this fall’s volleyball sectional.

The Class 4A No. 10 Owls will meet New Albany in the first round of Sectional 15.

As far as the other Jackson County teams, two of them — Crothersville and Trinity Lutheran — will play each other in the first round of the Class A Sectional 61 at Orleans. Medora also plays in that sectional, and the Hornets will face Springs Valley. Brownstown Central plays in the Class 3A Sectional 30 at Corydon Central, and the Braves will meet Scottsburg.

“I expect it to be a real battle,” Owls coach Angie Lucas said of playing New Albany. “I expect them to come in wanting to win, and of course, we want to win. We beat them last year on their court, so they have the revenge factor.”
