A combination of intensive tutoring during and after school hours helps Crothersville Community Schools students improve their learning and statewide testing scores, officials say.

Last year, the percentage of Crothersville students passing language arts and mathematics exceeded state averages in the third, fourth and sixth grades, continuing an upward trend after focusing on remediation programs.

School trustees recently approved continuing an after-school tutoring program that involves seven aides. The district also uses remediation teachers during the school day.
