Coach Aaron Knieriem said his Crothersville volleyball team played its most exciting match of the season on Monday night when it scored a 25-12, 19-25, 25-23, 28-30, 15-8 win against New Washington on Senior Night.

“I told the girls this was the most exciting win of the year for me because we won Game 5. We don’t always win Game 5,” Knieriem said. “When we get into a good match against a good team, like New Washington, we have trouble in Game 5 or we lose close, like 15-13, where we give it our all but we come up short.”

The Tigers got off to a fast start in the fifth set. An ace by Sam Spall gave her team a 4-0 lead, a kill by Chandler Nehrt put the Tigers on top 7-2, a kill by Hailey Pasley put the home team on top 13-4, and Nehrt had another kill for match point.

Prior to the Southern Athletic Conference match, Crothersville seniors Nehrt, Pasley, Lauren Barnes, Katie Masters, Jessica Schmelzle and Whitney Wienhorst were introduced and received gifts from their teammates.
