A local youth center opened its doors Tuesday to children looking for something to do besides lying around the house because school was canceled.

Gunnar Ortlieb, a freshman at Seymour High School, said he headed to the Boys & Girls Club of Seymour since he didn’t have anything better to do after school officials canceled classes for the 12th day this year because of the cold weather.

“There’s not much you can do with this weather,” the 14-year-old said. The low dipped to minus 9 in the area Tuesday morning.
