DAR chapter meets at Seymour

Tribune staff reports

Linn Montgomery of Spraytown was the guest speaker for the Feb. 13 meeting of the Fort Vallonia chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. That meeting was at the Jackson County Public Library in Seymour.

Montgomery shared many of the customs and traditions of her ancestors, the Bear Clan of the Cheyenne Plains Nation, with the nine chapter members present. The chapter members present included the newest, Janet Longest.

Montgomery answered questions and demonstrated various articles handed down to her from elder generations, including hand-beaded bags, belts and handmade tools that were used both in everyday life and for defense.
