DPW no longer accepting electronics for disposal

After today, Seymour Department of Public Works will no longer accept or pick up any electronics for disposal.

This includes televisions, DVD players, VCRs, cordless phones, radios, computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, speakers, scanners, fax machines, cell phones and other items.

Jackson County Transfer Station at 975 S. Commerce Drive in Seymour will accept such items for a charge.

Fees vary. Televisions smaller than 19 inches, for example, cost $10 to dispose of. Those 19 inches and larger cost $15. Computer monitors cost either $5 or $10. For information on their fees, contact the transfer station at 524-2821.

Executive Director Debbie Hackman of Jackson County Recycling District said she will periodically schedule electronic drop-offs within the county. She can be reached at 358-4277.
