The Seymour Police Department is looking for more participation in its annual DARE Soap Box Derby.
In its seventh year, the event features local kids and adults racing homemade cars to raise money and awareness for the Seymour Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.
This year’s event is scheduled to begin at noon Sept. 22 on West Second Street in front of the American Legion.
Instead of engines or pedals, soap box derby cars rely entirely on gravity to get them from the starting ramp to the finish line.
