Local street and highway departments have plenty of salt and sand on hand to help them cope with any ice and snow falling on streets and roads now that winter has officially arrived.
That could change quickly, however, if another round of storms similar to the one that hit the county earlier this month strikes any time soon.
The first of those storms left behind as much as 7 to 9 inches of snow across the county and a later storm dropped another 2 to 3 inches. A third brief storm left an inch or so of snow on the ground.
