Downtown festivities open Christmas celebration

The Seymour community will kick off the holidays with the Downtown Seymour Christmas on Monday.

From 5 to 7 p.m., One Chamber Square in downtown Seymour will be full of Christmas cheer with vendors serving free hot chocolate and cider, caroling from the Girls Inc. gymnastics team, Jingle John and his live reindeer, crafts and activities for kids, carriage rides, free train rides, entertainment and Santa Claus.

Santa will take the stage to flip the switch for the lights downtown at 6:30 p.m. His appearance Monday night will kick off his visiting hours for weekends leading up to Christmas.
