Driver, 18, faces reckless homicide charge in teen passenger’s death

A Scott County man faces a reckless homicide charge in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl in a wreck on Seymour’s far west side.

Garan A. Terrell, 18, of Austin was arrested Wednesday in Scott County on that charge and a charge of operating while intoxicated resulting in death, Seymour Detective C.J. Foster said.

Both charges are Class C felonies, which can carry a prison term of two to eight years upon conviction.

Terrell is charged in the death of Danika Collins of Seymour. Collins, who died of blunt force trauma to the chest, was a passenger in the front seat of a car driven by Terrell. A backseat passenger, Tanner Payton, 18, also of Seymour, was taken to a hospital in Louisville, Ky., with severe facial injuries but has since been released.
