A North Vernon man’s day went from bad to worse Thursday after police say he stole a car, ran a stop sign in Seymour and then led police on a chase through two counties before he was caught in a pond, police say.

Thirld A. Ross, 23, faces 10 charges, including a Class C felony charge of criminal confinement and two Class D felony charges of auto theft and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle.

Ross also faces a Class C misdemeanor charge of operating while never having received a driver’s license; three Class A misdemeanor charges of criminal recklessness involving a vehicle, operating while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement by fleeing; and two Class B misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and blood-alcohol content of 0.08 or greater.
