The Healthy Communities Initiative at Columbus Regional Hospital received the Indiana State Health Commissioner Public Service Award for its work with the Communities Putting Prevention To Work grant.
Bartholomew County was one of two Indiana counties to receive the funding in March 2010. The $2 million, two-year grant was intended to support local initiatives designed to reduce obesity rates, to increase physical activity and to improve nutrition.
Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Gregory Larkin presented Beth Morris, director of community health partnerships at CRH, with a certificate at a meeting at the hospital Dec. 6.
