Rising temperatures on Sunday were helping area crews gain some ground on snow- and ice-packed roads and streets across Jackson County.

Steady, heavy snowfall combined with plummeting temperatures to make clearing those roads difficult on Friday and Saturday, local officials said.

About 7 inches of snow fell Friday in Seymour and about 9 inches in Brownstown before taking a break late Friday night.
