Editorial: Declaration reason to celebrate Fourth



The fireworks displays, the neighborhood barbecue parties, even the time spent in the company of loved ones are all but sideshows on this particular day.

The real reason why we observe the Fourth of July can be found in the words that appear below from the time-tested Declaration of Independence issued July 4, 1776.

Dated though these words might be, they say it all.
