Last fall, Seymour Middle School students collected more than 10,000 coats and other articles of winter clothing, all of which were distributed to local people in need through the Jackson County Clothing Center.
Organizers of the annual coat and clothing drive hope to bring in even more this year — and students, teachers, administrators and others in the school are asking for the community’s help.
The need for warm coats and other clothing is greater than many might imagine, teacher Chris Kleber said. He helps oversee the project, now in its 21st year of helping others. The project started when math teacher Wayne Huddleston wanted to help teach Math Club members the benefits of helping others.
