Editorial: Harvest time is here ... use caution on road

Those big, lumbering, green, red and yellow machines are making their way across area fields — and in many cases along area roads — as the fall harvest kicks in.

That means it’s time to remind motorists to keep their eyes open for combines and trucks and tractors hauling loads of shelled corn and picked soybeans along rural roads.

It takes a surprisingly short amount of time for a car traveling 55 mph to race up on those slow-moving vehicles pulling out of fields or motoring along the roadway.
