A story on today’s front page of The Tribune offers a look at vote centers — how they operate elsewhere and how they could operate here in Jackson County.
Jackson County Clerk Amanda Cunningham Lowery said the use of the vote system can work here, and we agree with her. As we’ve stated here before, we encourage her to move toward their adoption and use.
Hoosier lawmakers approved the use of vote centers across the state after allowing their use for several election cycles in a select few counties — Cass, Tippecanoe and Wayne — as part of a pilot project. Success in those counties and anticipated savings of tax dollars caused the Indiana General Assembly to make the program available statewide.
