Today is Thanksgiving Day, a time to eat turkey, stuffing and desserts amid loved ones and friends, while watching a little football and contemplating your holiday purchases. A time to give thanks for our families, friends, health, jobs and other things for which we are thankful.
But the local unemployment rate remains at more than 7 percent, and many have taken pay cuts or seen wages stay flat during the past several years.
The economic downturn that started in 2008 lingers for many of our families, friends and neighbors.
