Editorial: Make early plans for severe weather

As reporters of the news, we can think of few phenomena where what fails to occur is just as important as what does. Weather would certainly be one of them.

Think of your reaction to the classic tornadic pattern we watched unfold throughout the day March 2, 2012. It didn’t matter if you were watching television, Tribtown.com or some other website or the skies — we all had the same concerns. And by day’s end, we all had the same sigh of relief.

No news, in this case, really was good news. Unless you lived in Henryville. Or Holton. Or Marysville. Powerful tornadoes that day killed people in those communities.
