Just about one year ago, this space heralded the news that, finally, it appeared plans to build a skate park at Seymour’s Shields Park would be taken off the back burner and become more than mere plans.
We were delighted to report in our newspages last week that the skate park — or at least its first phase — is completed. That’s right, finished. Done, dedicated and opened to the public.
Sure, the park is being built in several phases, but part of a skate park is better than the ethereal skate park that has been nothing more than pipe dreams (yes, that pun was intended), promises and blueprints since the late 1990s.
