Volunteers remain a vital part of life in Jackson County.
Their numbers will swell in the coming weeks as groups such as American Legion Post 89, Jackson County Sertoma Club and Crothersville FFA mount their annual Christmas drives.
But volunteers across the community serve a variety of needs throughout the year. They help agencies deliver much-needed services to people of all ages.
Some volunteers see that cancer patients and ill veterans are driven to appointments with their doctors and for treatments. Others help stock the shelves of food pantries, such as Anchor House and Community Provisions of Jackson County. Yet others help manage donations of clothing at the Jackson County Clothing Center.
